Knap collects nothing. It has no analytics, no crash reporting, no accounts, no advertising, and no servers of its own.

What the app can see

Knap reads the notes folder you choose and nothing else on your Mac. macOS enforces this: the app is sandboxed, and the only way it reaches a folder is the panel you use to pick one. That choice is remembered as a bookmark so the app can reopen the same folder next time, and it grants access to that folder alone.

Notes are read from disk and written back as plain Markdown files in place. They are never copied elsewhere, and never sent anywhere.

The network

Knap makes no network requests. It can load an image that one of your own notes points at with a web address, which is a request your note asked for and goes only to the address written in it. If your notes reference no remote images, Knap never touches the network at all.

What the app stores

Knap keeps its settings on your Mac: which folder you picked, what to ignore inside it, your editor font size, your global shortcut, and the size and position of the window. These live in the app's own settings storage on your machine.

Purchases

Knap is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment and holds the receipt; Knap never sees your name, card, or email. Apple's handling of that data is covered by Apple's privacy policy.
